Jubal's Children

In the 1960s – when the Beatles were cool and Hendrix was hot – there was a rock group from Orange County, California named “Jubal’s Children”, and wherever they played, they were sold out. Bob Chance (the main song writer and lead singer of the group) met Tracy Sands (a 17 year old musical giant) while Bob was working with a comedy group called “The Buccaneers.” Bob and Tracy put “Jubal’s Children” together and were lucky enough to meet Mike Dorrough, who recorded hit records for groups like “Jefferson Airplane”, “The Chambers Brothers”, and “The Seeds.” Bob and Tracy were joined by drummers Chipper Chavarria and Herb Wahlsteen, who both recorded with Jubal’s Children.

Mike Dorrough produced an album with Jubal’s Children, and as they were in the last stages of production, Bill Sherman, a vice president from Warner Brothers, made the group an offer of a contract and some front money to release “The Bomb” one of the songs from the album.  Beverly Hills Records also tried to release “The Bomb“ and “Thanks a lot for Nothing” on a single. Some time later Torchlite Records released “Six Pack”, an EP (extended play) and a single of “The Bomb” and “It’s Broken”. “The Bomb” got a lot of airplay in San Diego, and “ It’s Broken” was a pirate station hit in England, and got picked up by the BBC.  Later on another cut from the “Six Pack”, “Ice Cream Man” was played for years by syndicated disk jockey  “Dr. Demento”.

Despite all of this, the groups dream of having the entire album released never came true – until now.  Finally available on one CD from Hot Mix Records, you can enjoy what the kids of the 60s were lining up to hear. The serious rock sounds of “The Bomb” and “It’s Broken,” the bubble gum sounds of  “Thanks a lot for Nothing,” the comedy of “We’re Not What We Are,” and “Ice Cream Man,” and the tongue-in-cheek love songs like “Mr. Doormat.” They’re all here.  All 12 songs produced by Academy Award® and two time Emmy® winner, Mike Dorrough, are finally together on one CD, digitally re-mastered for optimal sound quality.  We’ve titled this great CD  “The Bomb”. So, if you like 60s rock and roll, you’ll love listening to this CD.  You’ll see for yourself why Jubal’s Children were always sold out.

*F.Y.I. – the name  “Jubal’s Children” was inspired by a verse from the bible.  “…and Jubal he was the father of all who play the harp and flute.” – Genesis 4:21, N.I.V.
